I STARTED AS RECORD BUYER FOR BABY O RECORDS ON NORTH AVE. IN 1983. SOME OF THE DJ'S THAT CAME BY WERE FRANKIE HOLLYWOOD, JULIAN PEREZ, RALPHI ROSARIO & KENNY JASON.
JULIAN INTRODUCED ME TO ROCKY JONES.
ROCKY & I STARTED ONE OF THE FIRST HOUSE MUSIC RECORD LABELS DJ INTERNATIONAL RECORDS IN JULY OF 1985. I AM VERY PROUD OF WHAT ROCKY & I DID FOR THE HOUSE MUSIC SCENE!! WE WERE THE ONLY RECORD LABEL TO DO MAJOR PROMOTIONS (BILLBOARD, D.M.R., POCK POOL, CMJ, NEWSPAPERS, RETAIL, RECORD POOL, MIX SHOWS, RADIO STATIONS,ETC.). WE DID A RECORD DEAL WITH LONDON/POLYGRAM THAT SENT 10 REPORTERS TO COVER THE CHICAGO HOUSE MUSIC SCENE IN THE SPRING OF 1986.
I THINK CHICAGO HOUSE MUSIC COULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR FORCE WORLD-WIDE IF OTHER LABELS (LIKE TRAX RECORDS) WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME!!!!
I USED TO TO MANAGE FAST EDDIE, TYREE & KOOL ROCK STEADY IN 1988.
WE OPENED UP DJ INTERNATIONAL RECORD STORE IN 1989.
I PRODUCED FRANKIE "HOLLYWOOD" RODRIGUEZ'S SHOW ON B-96 FROM 1992-1995 (FRANKIE LEFT ME FOR THE RICHES OF "B-96 MORNIG SHOW" IN 1995).
STARTED CHICAGO GROOVE RECORDS WITH JULIAN PEREZ FROM 1996 TO 1998.
STILL DOING THE RECORD STORE, LICENSING, BOOKINGS, COUNSELLING, MANAGEMENT, ETC.
CURRENTLY WORKING ON A NON-FOR-PROFIT DOCUMENTARY ABOUT CHICAGO HOUSE MUSIC WHICH SHOULD BE ON PBS HOPEFULLY THIS SPRING!!

Hay Benji i am really sorry my 16 yr old is having a baseball tournament out of town and i have to go i just want to spend time with him and my other son but i really appreciate it if you ever have anything else can you keep me in mind and i have something for you since you were always nice to us so if we ever met i will give it to you i am really sorry but you know how it is i really need to be with them thank you hope to hear from you sometime john mares

I have to say because of the attitude you had alot of us alway's appreciated the test press you would give us and even if we weren't involved in the business like the other's it still meant alot to me.I actually used my skills in coaching kids for 22 yrs in various sports baseball football wrestling as well as basketball of you google my name you would read alot about what i have done with kids.Either Ingalls Park Baseball john Mares or St.Joesph joliet basketball my son's attended Providence hs were they played 3 sports so i still get out once in a while but i am a single dad that just love's the muzic and my son's so keep in touch i actually just meyt this wonderful women were both sox fan's and she like going to out as much as i do take benji

I must just miss u during that year. I use to go to baby O's in '83 to buy records. I remember buys alot of my imports from there I probably bought my first record there.
